Yeah, I know he’s dead, but I think Frank Zappa would have kicked some serious ass as President.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The religious right, headed by GWB, is a serious threat to the American democracy. A fascist theocracy is sneaking up on us and the lethargic public isn’t even noticing.

Frank Zappa realized this 20 years ago and it hasn’t gotten any better, quite the contrary. Watch this clip from CNN’s Crossfire from 1986. It’s pretty big (20 minutes/30mb) so it might take a while to load. Be patient, it’s worth the wait.

The rigth-wing nuts want to "protect" us from the harm that rock music (the devil’s music) and pornography inflict on our children, but their hidden agenda is to force everyone into their own mold and morality and in the process they’re ripping our democracy apart from within.

My prediction is that it will get a lot worse before it gets better.
